Come join us for crafting challenge 45 at the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog!

This is a fun crafting challenge!  It involves the sketch shown below along with a stamp that is one year old or older.  I bet you have lots of old stamps just waiting to be used.  Take one out and join us for some fun!

Here is the sketch graphic and the card I made for this challenge:

For this challenge I used an old, large background stamp from Hero Arts, Flower Text.  It was a large wood mounted stamp that I remounted to EZ Mount and used my Misti for stamping.  I used really deep rich black ink, Ranger Archival in Jet Black.  This ink isn't recommended for use with Copics, but I used them together anyways.  This kind of resulted in a fun smeared watercolor type effect, and I love it, but I needed to clean my Copic tips afterwards.

I stamped the image onto white cardstock.  Then, I colored using Copics.  I added some Glossy Accents in select spots.  I mounted the panel onto pink cardstock and added s trimmed strip of the same paper on the card front.  Then I added a sentiment sticker from SRM.  The tiny flower is from an American Girl craft book and mounted using a pop dot.

I then added this panel to the front of a piece of paper from the My Favorite Things Watercolor Wash paper pad.  I mounted this whole workup them onto a white card I created using card stock, a trimmer and a scoring board.

Please join us in the challenge!  Then check back to the Retro Rubber Blog one week from this Sunday to learn the challenge winner!  I can't wait to see your creations!

  1. Love what you did with the background stamp, Christine. The coloring came out well regardless of the smudging... but I know you took time to clean the copics tips (because I do also, LOL). Very pretty...

  2. Hello Christine: I love this background stamp, at first I thought you had masked the flowers to stamp the print but that would have been very time consuming. It looks fantastic, the "smears" look like shading, really fun.
I don't have Copics but I sometimes stain my SU markers, if I forget to clean them a bit, I pay later when I use them again.
    Beautiful card!
