It's time for Retro Rubber Challenge #30! Please join us!

It is time for Retro Rubber Challenge Blog's 30th challenge!  Woohoo!  Come join the fun!  The challenge this time around involves using a stamp one year old or older, and the sketch below.  Easy and fun!  Here is the sketch and the card I made for the challenge:

For this card, I used the Technique Tuesday stamp set, Pretty Petals, which is dated from 2012.  I love this set!  I also used a piece of  cardstock in white, silver metallic cardstock from American Crafts, and a small strip of patterned paper.

In addition, I used sequins and stars, some silver string, dimensional adhesive, and regular flat adhesive.  Finally, I used several colors of ink and my Misti.  The inks are from Memento and are Rose Bud, Desert Sand, Grey Flannel, Lulu Lavender, and New Sprout.

I began by stamping the flower image on white trimmed cardstock.  I used ALL the inks, and stamped the image over and over in the same spot.  This resulted in a fun mottled color look.  I placed some string in a wrapped shape, and after adding dimensional adhesive to the back of the flower, I placed the string in the adhesive, then put this entire panel on the card front.  (I cut and scored the card into 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" size).  I cut and placed the silver and patterned papers out to the right, then added sequins using a liquid adhesive. Finally I stamped the sentiment, trimmed it, and placed it on the card.  I really had a lot of fun making this one!

I'd love to see what you create for this challenge.  Visit the Retro Rubber Blog for all the details.  Then be sure to join us at the blog on February 1 to learn the challenge winner.  Best of luck!

  1. Hello Christine: WOW!! when I first saw this card, I thought you'd stamped the flower on a piece of transparency because it looks like it has a shadow all around it but then, I read your description on how you made it and I was even more amazed.
The sentiment totally describes this card.....BEAUTIFUL, love all the little details, specially the wrapped around tread, it makes your card look so elegant.
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. That flower is spectacular, Christine! It sounds like you are REALLY enjoying your MISTI! Your combination of inks made such a unique color. The rest of the embellishments are perfectly done. Beautiful!!

  3. I might have to join the MISTI wagon! Great card, I agree that it appears to have you have stamped a transparency. Love all the little details, it is so pretty!

  4. Christine, this is my favorite card! Your hibiscus flower is divine. I was admiring the unusual color and then read how you obtained that color. I am going to try that with similar SU inks to see if I can duplicate the lovely effect. The bling and the sentiment are perfect!! Off to pin....

  5. Christine, I love this, the flower is stunning, great technique - now on my list to try and I really like the fab smattering of bling and stars..Cx

  6. This card is amazing! I agree with those above - I would have bet that you stamped this to a transparency. What a great technique that I am going to have to try. I love how the colors are so subtle and soft spoken! Beautiful!!!
